Why I’m mad that Kim K had another baby via surrogate?

Infertility effects women of all ages, races and social statuses.  Well in America having a baby has become a luxury.  Surrogacy is a pricey fertility treatment that only the rich can afford. While middle class and poor families have to deal with the harsh realities of possibly never seeing their dreams of parenthood come true. The elite are constantly using these wonderful inventions to grow their families.  Money talks in America and it can buy you anything you want even a whole ass family!   Infertility affects women of all social economic statuses at the same rate, but women of lower income are less likely to be able to have a child due to cost.   IVF and surrogacy are scientific miracles that have been created to bless women who are unable to carry a child but, what about the millions of women who can’t afford those treatments? The average cost of IVF is $12,000.00 and the cost of a surrogate is anywhere from $90,000.00 to $130,000.00. Whew chile!! How does an average couple afford fertility treatments in America?

When I see all these celebrities talking about their surrogates and flaunting their newborn babies I can’t help but to think about the women who cannot afford to have those same opportunities. I mean its bittersweet because yes I want every woman to have a child if that is their dream and celebrities are bringing much needed exposure and awareness to infertility. But it’s a shame that every woman will not have the same outcome as the rich and famous. Women and couples who experience infertility usually have to pay all cost out of pocket because most private insurances do not cover such procedures. The financial burden of infertility is insane and most families are willing to risk it all to have their dream baby. Unfortunately, some families do not have much to start with which leaves them with very few options. Where is there American Dream child? So if you’re like me and most women then you’re not rich then you want to seek affordable fertility options. Here are a couple tips you can try to help lessen the financial burden of fertility treatments:

1.RESEARCH

There are many fertility treatments out there but you will need to do your own research to find the one that is best for you. Holistic treatments tend to be less pricey than medical interventions. Do your best to find out prices and compare products or treatments you are considering to one another.

2.PLAN

Create a plan and be organized. Fertility treatments will take commitment and time so once you decide on what you want then figure out how you will achieve it. Maybe you will have to start a savings account or work a second job. Do what you have to do to make it happen.

3. GO FUND ME

Hey why not!! If all else fails start a Go Fund me. If you’re not afraid to share it and put yourself out there, then go for it! Family, friends and strangers may be willing to support and help you but you will never know unless you try. You literally have nothing to lose.

In the future I hope to see fertility treatments covered by all insurance companies. Why do women who are not rich have to deal with the disappointment of not ever having a child in their life. Constantly bombarded with the pain of society parading the success stories of Kim K, Kandi Buruss and other famous women who have the advantage to afford such luxuries as surrogates and IVF cycles. Life is not fair but it’s up to humanity to encourage what is right.

What is your experience with paying for fertility treatments? Can you afford to have a baby?
